SKILLED CORPUS CHRISTI TX ESTATE PLANNING LAWYER

I take the time to listen to my clients and understand their unique needs. Then, I can make recommendations that are targeted to educate my clients and protect their rights. A comprehensive estate plan may consist of one or more of the following:

  • Trust – A trust is a legal document that provides detailed instructions on how your property should be managed. There are a variety of trusts that you can create and I can explain the pros and cons of each one. Trusts are often used to manage property after your passing, protect trust assets from creditors and to avoid an expensive probate process.

  • Will – A will is a legal document that sets out who will receive your property after your passing. You can also name a guardian for your minor children and an executor to carry out your wishes. There are certain legal aspects of a will that I can explain to you to help you understand your rights, such as what your spouse and children are legally entitled to.

  • Living will – This document should not be confused with a last will and testament. A living will describes the type of medical treatment you want to receive if you are not able to communicate this information for yourself. I can discuss your values and make sure that your wishes are clearly communicated.

  • Medical power of attorney – You can designate a trusted person to make medical decisions for you if you are unable to make them for yourself.

  • Power of attorney – This important document allows you to designate a trusted person to act as your agent regarding your financial affairs. You can delegate as broad or narrow of powers as you wish, as well as decide when this power is triggered.

I can also discuss other important estate planning matters with you. I can describe your available options and weigh which are in your best interest.

Because I have extensive experience as a probate litigator, I can anticipate potential problems and provide suggestions to avoid a contest to your estate plan.
